Hip Canopy for Friends in Need
The Friends in Need Food Shelf began in 1992, providing food and resources to those in need. This non-profit works with residents in Cottage Grove, St. Paul Park, Newport and Grey Cloud Island. The vision of Friends in Need (FIN) is “Improving lives by ending hunger,” a mission that has been ever more important these last few months.
In an effort to protect visitors and volunteers from the elements, the St. Paul Park location of FIN set a canopy up over their main entrance (see the BEFORE picture below). Unfortunately, the canopy was not meant to be a permanent structure. However, this is just the type of problem that Acme Awning Company has expertise in solving.
Acme Awning designed a hip style canopy with four custom posts to protect FIN’s clients for years to come. The new canopy will hold strong in wind, rain and snow, and even features the name of the organization on the front. Acme Awning was pleased to be able to donate the time, materials and expertise to complete this project. We also thank our partners for their donation: Trivantage donated the canvas; Action Rental of Stillwater donated the two man auger, cement mixer and trailer. Working together to serve the community — and thankful for the work of Friends in Need.
