Matt’s Bar & Grill – Protection and Advertising

Matt’s Bar & Grill at 35th and Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis is a staple for both locals and visitors alike. Founded in 1954, Matt’s Bar & Grill claims to be the original home of the Jucy Lucy and has won numerous awards for its specialty. The restaurant has also been featured on the Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food and Food Wars (where it won “Best Jucy Lucy in town”), and was even visited by President Obama when he was in town in 2014.

Today, visitors are more likely to be found outside the restaurant waiting for their take out orders due to the COVID-19 restrictions. In an effort to provide their patrons with a more comfortable wait, Matt’s Bar & Grill contacted their neighbor Acme Awning for help. We worked with Matt’s Bar & Grill to design an awning that not only serves as protection for their customers, but also elevates their brand by featuring the classic Matt’s Bar & Grill red along with a customized valance with their tagline. The awning is motorized so it can be safely retracted when not in use or when the weather is too harsh, helping to extend the lifetime of the canvas.
