Enclosed Patio for Flexible Year Round Dining
In October 2021, Acme Awning’s Project of the Month featured Duke’s on 7 and their newly installed motorized pergola over their patio (see the blog post here). While the motorized pergola is a fantastic addition to Duke’s patio, the Minnetonka restaurant wasn’t done. The goal: create an outdoor dining space that can be enjoyed in a variety of weather — no small feat here in Minnesota!
To help Duke’s reach this goal, Acme Awning installed motorized sun/wind curtains manufactured by Progressive. These curtains feature clear vinyl windows that can be raised or lowered with the touch the of a button. The curtains can be used in cold weather to keep the elements out (and the heat in) or on particularly windy and rainy days. Magnet zipper panels were also installed to provide a fully protected patio area.
Other contractors were brought in to provide lighting, ventilation, fans and other wiring to the pergola. The space can now be used on all but the most extreme of Minnesota days — windows up and louvered roof open when the weather cooperates, and closed up some (or all) when it doesn’t.
