Entrance Canopy with Graphics

Kids In Need Foundation (KINF)  is a national non-profit that believes every child in America deserves equal opportunity and access to a quality education. By partnering with teachers and students in under-resourced schools, KINF provides the support needed for teachers to teach and learners to learn. In 2021, the foundation supported 5 million students and 205,000 teachers in underserved schools by providing various school supplies.

The foundation is headquartered in a multi-tenant office/warehouse building in Roseville. This is also where the local non-profit work happens — collecting and organizing supplies, meeting with patrons, distributing items and more. KINF reached out to Acme Awning to help solve two issues: visibility and weather protection.

From a distance it was hard to tell which entrance belonged to KINF. Door signs were hard to see from the parking lot, and the staff wanted a better front entry indicator. With snowy weather approaching, they also wanted to provide patrons with protection from the elements throughout the year.

Acme Awning worked with KINF to design a front entry canopy to differentiate them from other very similar entries on the multi-tenant building where all entries look alike. Choosing a solid blue canvas and placing the Kids In Need Foundation logo on the front crown clearly distinguishes them from others and helps guests find the entrance quickly and easily.

The canopy is also designed to protect guests from Minnesota’s weather. Four custom posts support the canopy over the walkway and add strength to the overall structure. The angle of the canopy allows snow, ice and water to shed off each side, away from the sidewalk. Acme Awning was pleased to be able to meet the needs of this local non-profit and provide them with a long-lasting, useful addition to their headquarters.
