Hastings Hotel with Custom Patio Cover

This month Acme Awning had the pleasure of working with The Confluence, a boutique hotel situated on the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown Hastings. The building was once the H.D. Hudson Manufacturing Company Factory, which manufactured handheld sprayers at this location from 1914 until 2011. After nearly 14 years of planning, rehabilitating the historic space and extensive renovations, the hotel opened to the public in the fall of 2023. Along with over 80 rooms, the hotel offers stunning riverfront views and a large event space that blends river town charm and countryside elegance.

The hotel wanted to expand and enhance their outdoor patio space so more guests could enjoy views of the river while being protected from the sun and rain. Acme Awning worked with The Confluence team to design a custom patio top to cover the 62′ wide space. To provide a long-lasting stable structure, we used our standard welded galvanized steel to create both the custom posts and the overhead frame. All of the pieces were then powder coat painted two different colors to meet the finished look desired by The Confluence.

For the seasonal canvas cover, the hotel chose Sunbrella Manhattan Classic awning/marine canvas (see all of our Sunbrella canvas options here). Canvas patio tops are a seasonal solution as the covers need to be removed during the winter and re-installed in the spring.

After Acme Awning installed the patio top, the hotel added string lights to the frame for an added touch of charm.
